"No, she broke up with me when I told her. Then later, I told Cho there was another girl, and she became a bucket of tears and broke up with me as well," Cedric said to Ernie. "You're in a terrible boat, Cedric. But you're single now, free to date anyone! What about one of Cho's friends? They're all equally gorgeous," Ernie said, nudging Cedric's arm.
Cedric sighed and shook his head. "No, I can't do that. You don't understand. I love Fleur; I couldn't date anyone else but her. She's wonderful and beautiful, inside and out. I only wish she'd take me back, but she would never believe me. And I don't even know where she's staying, so it's not like I could use floo powder to get to her."
"Oh, it's easy. The Beauxbatons ladies are staying in a special dormitory on the Hogwarts grounds. I don't know how to get there, but apparently, Dumbledore has two dormitories. One for Beauxbatons and one for Durmstrang. I've visited Durmstrang before, but they kicked me out," Ernie said gleefully. Ernie, being the obsessed fanboy of Krum that he is, knew where the Durmstrang dorm was, but not Beauxbatons.
Cedric stretched his arms and legs while pacing around the room. "That's not helping me, Ernie. I need to know how to get to her." "I can't help you with that, but there is always a chance you will see her on the grounds. I hear she likes to sit by the lake at night and think about the day," Ernie was trying to help Cedric, but it wasn't working.
"You heard she does? That's still no good, Ernie! I need to know!"
"There's no harm in just looking for her tonight, Cedric. Or right now, it's pretty late already."
"I guess you're right," Cedric grabbed his wand, stuffed it in his pocket, and walked out of the dormitory into the empty common room. He crept out of the door into the hall, ran down flights and flights of stairs, passed up several girls who were freaking out about the fact that Cedric just ran past them, and finally made it outside. He walked for ten minutes towards the lake when he saw a figure sitting against a tree, looking at the peaceful waters.
Cedric walked closer and noticed that it was indeed Fleur Delacour. He kneeled down next to her. "Fleur?"
"What iz it that you want, Zedric? I am not interested in you anymore," she said coldly.
"Fleur, I want you to take me back. You never understood what I had said. When I met you, I was in awe of your beauty and intelligence. You were so perfect; I completely forgot about the girl I was dating. Cho never even crossed my mind the entire holiday. I feel terrible about what I've done and I hope I can make it up to you. Fleur, Cho and I aren't a couple anymore. She dumped me earlier after I told her about you. I know this is probably a bit much to be asking for, but I can't see my life without you. You're my world, Fleur. Without you, I'm nothing, I'm weak. I love you," Cedric said. He felt these were the right words to say as they came so easily to him.
Fleur looked back to the lake. "'Ow do I know that what you are saying iz true?" Cedric picked up her chin and turned her face to his. "Have you ever heard of the saying, 'It's in his kiss?'" Fleur nodded. Cedric smiled. "Well, then you will know once I kiss you."
Cedric leaned in towards her, using his other hand to hold himself over her. He brought his lips to hers gracefully and they embraced each other with their arms. Cedric's hands crept down to the small of her back and they were soon making out. Fleur pulled herself away from Cedric and pushed him off her.
"Zedric, I would love to be a couple," she smiled. Cedric grinned and leaned in for another kiss, but Fleur pushed him away once again. "But today, Roger Davies asked me to be 'is girlfriend."
Cedric's mouth fell open. "What are you saying, Fleur?"
"I said yes to 'im," Fleur said, looking down, then back to Cedric. Her eyes were sad and wet. "I am zo sorry, Zedric, but you broke my 'eart and it 'urt terribly. I cannot bring myself to another 'eartbreak zis year, especially not with another champion, whom I will 'ave to do another task with."
Fleur stood up and walked away, crying a bit. Cedric fell back onto the grass, closing his eyes. I blew it, he thought. This is just great.

"You're WHAT?! No, Cedric, you CAN'T do that!" Ginny screamed. Cedric had gone to the library the next day to find Ginny there. When asked why he looked so gloomy, he told her why.
"Ginny, I have to. I have no other choice. I can't continue this. First Fleur, then Cho, then Fleur again. Seeing Fleur with Roger just kills me," Cedric said, sighing. Ginny groaned. "Oh my goodness, Cedric! If people only knew how weak you really are, you would lose your reputation like that!" She snapped rapidly.
Cedric raised a brow at her. "Then what am I supposed to do? Go on like this? Miserable? Lose this whole thing, just because I can't stand to beat Fleur? Just let her win unfairly because I love her?"
"You'd let her win unfairly in this tournament even if you two were going out, Cedric. No, I won't allow you to drop out of the tournament. You have to persevere. If you don't, then you're just making the odds for that Viktor Krum to win bigger. Honestly, Cedric!" She shook him gently. "Snap out of this way of thinking. You have to do this. I know you can win. I'm supporting Harry, but I know one of you will come out on top."
"Ginny, look, I've made up my mind, and I'm dropping out. I'm going to speak to Professor Dumbledore later this afternoon. He'll have to. I don't know, I'll make myself ill or something. I can't do the last task, I just can't!" Cedric said angrily.
Ginny patted his shoulder. "Okay then. Do what you want. But when Viktor wins, I don't want you to go on and on about how he's the greatest seeker in the world and already has eternal glory. Cedric, no one out of Hogwarts, Durmstrang, and Beauxbatons knows how great you are. You have to show the world."
"I'm just going to take a walk and think this over. See you," Cedric said, grabbing his books and walking out of the library. Ginny rolled her eyes. "Stupid lovesick boys..." she muttered.
